Mission
To promote the safety and well-being of Anoka County citizens through the coordination of the emergency management program with local, county, state and federal partners. This is done by maximizing capabilities and resources of the county in the areas of mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery.
Department Description
Emergency Management administers a countywide program in those areas that don't have a local emergency management organization and coordinates with the local jurisdictions who do. This coordination follows Integrated Emergency Management System (IEMS) methodology: Mitigation, Preparedness, Response, Recovery.
Emergency Management collaborates with a wide range of partners within Anoka County and beyond. This includes but is not limited to law enforcement, fire services, emergency medical services, public health, public works, hospitals, government administrations, elected officials, volunteer organizations and the private sector.
Coordination of the IEMS is done in compliance with local, State and Federal regulations. Emergency Management ensures countywide compliance with regulations, laws and policies.
