Community Healthy Eating

In Anoka County, SHIP works to empower community organizations to offer healthful food options. The goal of the Community Healthy Eating strategy is to increase access to and selection of healthy foods to improve health and reduce chronic diseases for all.

Efforts in this strategy are focused on policy, system, and environmental changes that support healthy eating behaviors. The highest priority for this strategy is to address the health disparities and inequities that exist within the community.

Partnerships

To accomplish the work of community healthy eating, Anoka County SHIP has formed a partnership with the University of Minnesota - Extension. This partnership allows SHIP to access Extension's resource base, host SNAP-Ed education for partners, and take a comprehensive approach for partners through "train the trainer" and direct education teaching models.
