Products used to maintain your home, vehicle, and control pests are hazardous to you and the environment.  It is important to limit the use of dangerous chemicals in your home and never dump leftover products down the drain or in the trash. Drop them off at our free household hazardous waste collection site for safe disposal. 

These events and the permanent drop-off facility in Blaine have removed 530 tons of hazardous waste and serviced 15,000 residents per year.  

Accepted:

  • Products labeled: caution, warning, danger, poison, combustible, corrosive, flammable, inflammable, or toxic)
  • Aerosol cans that have contents remaining (spray paint, industrial solvent, automotive spray, insecticides, oven cleaner, spray foam)
  • Ammunition (under 6", balls, bullets, shotgun ammunition)
  • Automotive fluid (brake fluid, transmission fluid, motor oil, antifreeze, washer fluid)
  • Batteries (Alkaline, Button, Li-Ion, Lithium, Ni-Cd, Ni-MH, SSLA)
  • Battery-powered devices (remove the battery if possible, cell phones, tablets, laptops, power tools, toothbrushes, small toys, vape pens)
  • Cleaners (all-purpose cleaner, bathroom cleaner, bleach, drain cleaner, degreaser, glass cleaner, hydrogen peroxide, oven cleaner, stain remover, etc.)
  • Compressed cylinders (propane, oxygen, helium, freon)
  • Driveway sealer
  • Fertilizer (nitrogen, nitrate, and phosphorus-based)
  • Fuel (gasoline, kerosene, ethanol, diesel) (containers will not be returned.)
  • Lights (fluorescent lights, HID bulbs, CFLs, LED lights, neon lights, and PCB ballasts)
  • Mercury-containing devices (thermometer, thermostats, barometers, blood pressure gauges)
  • Motor oil and filters (containers are not returned)
  • Paint and stains (latex, oil, water-based, spray paint, primer, sealers, undercoats)
  • Paint stripper and thinner
  • Pesticides (insecticides, herbicides, rodenticides, fungicides)
  • Pool chemicals (algaecide, chlorine, bromine, pool shock, water balancers)
  • Propane tanks (full or empty)
  • Roofing tar
  • Sharps (needles, lancets, Epi-pens, syringes, etc.)
  • Varnish
  • Waxes and finishes
  • Weedkiller and rodent killer
  • Wood preservatives
  • Prescriptions medications (powders, creams, liquids, pet medications, sprays, pills)
    Secure products so they don't tip over or leak.

  • Carpet
  • Concrete or asphalt
  • Construction materials
  • Demolition debris
  • Electronics
  • Empty containers or drums
  • Explosives
  • Furniture
  • Garbage

Day of the Event: 

Load items into your trunk or cargo bed and stay in your vehicle while staff unloads.  

Bring a driver's license or proof of residency.

Can't Make It? 

Visit the year-round collection site in Blaine for HHW disposal.

This event is free and open to residents of Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, and Washington counties.  Businesses, schools, and other organizations may NOT bring waste to the drop-off event.
