CSAH 22 (Viking Blvd) Bridge Reconstruction 

Project Background / Description
Anoka County, in partnership with the City of Oak Grove, is developing plans for the reconstruction of the bridge on CSAH 22 (Viking Boulevard) over the Rum River. The project will consist of reconstructing the bridge over the Rum River to provide 8-foot shoulders, as well as allow CSAH 22 to remain open to traffic through the project construction. Construction of this project is anticipated in 2023.

Project Goals

  • Safely accommodate all users including motor vehicles, freight, transit, pedestrians, and bicyclists
  • Rehabilitate the existing bridge
  • Improve storm water management and treatment
  • Reduce impacts and avoid the natural resources and wetlands adjacent to the highway corridor, where appropriate
  • Provide efficient mobility and access for all modes of travel
  • Develop a financially responsible design that minimizes right-of-way and environmental resource impacts
  • Minimize the impacts to the public during construction

  • Preliminary Design – Spring/Summer 2021
