2022 Construction Projects
Coon Rapids Boulevard (CSAH 1) and Blackfoot Street Signal Replacement
Anoka County, in partnership with the City of Coon Rapids, is developing a preliminary layout for replacing and updating the existing signal system at CSAH 1 (Coon Rapids Boulevard) and Blackfoot Street. Construction is tentatively scheduled for 2022.
Foley Boulevard (CSAH 11) - BNSF Railway Grade Separation
Foley Boulevard, from East River Road to Coon Rapids Boulevard, will be reconstructed to a four-lane divided highway over the BNSF railroad tracks. Additional pedestrian and traffic safety improvements will also be made during this construction.

109th Avenue (CSAH 12) Pedestrian Ramp Improvement Project
Four pedestrian ramp pairs, at the intersections of 109th Avenue (CSAH 12) with 6th Street, Terrace Road, Quincy Boulevard, and Buchanan Street, will be reconstructed in partnership with MnDOT. These projects will increase the walkability of the area, and also provide contracting opportunities to local small businesses for the construction. Each intersection will be redone individually as a small business contract. Construction is anticipated for Summer 2022.
125th Avenue (CSAH 14) Reconstruction - Harpers Street to Lexington Avenue (CSAH 17)
CSAH 14 will be upgraded from a two-lane rural section to a four-lane divided urban section from Harpers Street to CSAH 17. The project will incorporate a multi-use bituminous trail within the corridor, along with a traffic control signal at the intersection of North Lake Boulevard and Legacy Creek Parkway.
Lexington Avenue (CSAH 17) Turn Lane Additions - Pheasant Ridge Drive to 112th Avenue
As part of Phase II of the 2022 Overlay Program, Anoka County is constructing dedicated right turn lanes on Lexington Avenue (CSAH 17) from Pheasant Ridge Drive to 112th Avenue, in the City of Blaine.
West Freeway Drive (CSAH 54) Realignment North of Lake Drive (CSAH 23)
Anoka County received a Local Road Improvement Program grant to fund a portion of the realignment and reconstruction of West Freeway Drive (CSAH 54), north of Lake Drive (CSAH 23), which is a City roadway under the jurisdiction of City of Columbus. In addition, the City of Columbus has received funding thru the State Park Road Account to fund road improvements for the access into onto the DNR’s Lamprey Pass Wildlife Management Area (LPWMA). Recent County and MnDOT geometric improvements on Lake Drive and TH 97 have changed the existing West Freeway Drive access to a right-in/right-out only.
Bunker Lake Boulevard (CSAH 116) at Martin Street - Left Turn Lane & Median Improvements
As part of Phase II of the 2022 Overlay Program, Anoka County, in partnership with the City of Andover, is reconstructing the median and left turn lanes at the intersection of Bunker Lake Boulevard (CSAH 116), Martin Street and the Walmart access road.

2022 MnDOT Projects in Anoka County
US Highway 10/169 Improvements - Anoka Solution - Greater MN Gateway
The US Highway 10/169 Improvement Project will include reconstruction of three intersections (Thurston Avenue, Fairoak Avenue, and Main Street), pedestrian walkway improvements and frontage road improvements. The improvements would reduce congestion, increase safety, and provide a more reliable route through the area. Construction is scheduled for 2022-2023.
