When will my item automatically renew?

Anoka County Library will attempt to renew your borrowed item three days before the due date. If successful, your loan period will be extended for a full borrowing period (typically 21 days) from the existing due date. If unsuccessful, you will continue to receive notices about overdue items. You may try to renew manually before you return the item.

How will I know if my item was renewed?

There are a few ways to find out an item's due date:

  • On the Courtesy Notice and/or Automatic Renewal notices emailed to you 3 days before the due date
  • Via your My Account
  • By phone or in person

Why won't my item automatically renew?

An item won't automatically renew if:

  • Another library user has requested it.
  • The item has reached its maximum number of renewals (up to 4 times).
  • You owe more than $10 on your account.
  • Your account is expired.
  • The item is ineligible for renewal:
    • Electronic materials (eBooks, eAudiobooks, and eMagazines)
    • Interlibrary loans
    • State Park Passes
    • Bike locks (single-day checkout for library use)

Can I manually renew items early?

You may manually renew as early as 14 days before the due date. Ways to renew:

  • My Account
  • Call the renewal line at 763-324-1590
  • Ask library staff

Can I opt out of Automatic Renewal?

Automatic renewal is an automatic process that applies to all ACL cardholder accounts. If you don't wish to keep an item, please return it when you're finished.
