The Environmental Services unit within the Public Health and Environmental Services Department provides services to protect, promote, and improve the environment in Anoka County. The goal of these services is to prevent the public’s exposure to environmental hazards. The types of services offered are the following:

  • Regulation of food and lodging establishments, public swimming pools, hazardous and solid waste disposal and body art establishments
  • Education resources on food safety, groundwater protection and hazardous waste management and disposal.
  • Please contact your local City for mold, pest or rental housing issues
  • Looking for septic system information or records? Please call your city. Anoka County does not have records for private septic systems in Anoka County municipalities and all permitting is done at the city level. Some records may be available for properties in Linwood Township, but please check with township staff first. Thank you!

If you have concerns about the ongoing private well water investigation in Andover being conducted by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA), please see their website on the topic here: https://www.pca.state.mn.us/andover

Anoka County does not have further information at this time. Please note that the Anoka County Well Water Testing program is not able to test for 1,4-dixoane, which is the chemical that has been found in some of the wells. Further questions can be directed to the MPCA contact listed on the website linked above.
