A new road construction project to bring safety improvements to Highway 47 in St. Francis is approaching the final design stage and is scheduled to begin construction in 2028. Specific timing of the project is currently pending based on preliminary design work. The plan is to convert the road from a four-lane divided highway to a single lane each direction from approximately Cree Street to Ambassador Boulevard. Roundabouts at 227th Avenue, Peterson Drive and Ambassador Boulevard will also be included. The project’s design was determined through extensive public engagement and feedback in collaboration between MnDOT, Anoka County and the City of St. Francis.
