Project Summary

Project Background/Description
This project consists of reconstructing Sunset Avenue (County Road 53) from Apollo Drive (County Highway 12) to 125th Avenue NE (County Highway 14) to add shoulders and turn lanes, and provide intersection improvements along the corridor, including roundabouts at 121st Avenue and Lilac Street. Anoka County is working in partnership with the Cities of Blaine and Lino Lakes.

    • If you were not able to attend the in-person open houses, we still want to hear from you!  Check out the online storyboard website for the background of the project, some of the challenges, and our preliminary schedule and layout.   The Interactive Map will let you see the proposed project on the map and add any comments that you think we should consider.  This will be open for several weeks after the Open House. 


Project Updates

As of April 1, 2026
Right-of-way acquisition needs have been finalized, and the consultant is preparing a visual model of the project to assist with discussions with adjacent property owners. The 95% plans are expected in May 2026.
