Social, Environmental & Economic Scan

SEE Scan

A scan of social, environmental and economic (SEE) issues was conducted to identify existing resources along CSAH 34. The study area for the SEE scan included CSAH 34 between CSAH 49 and CSAH 54 and areas within approximately 1,000 feet of the existing roadway.

Key Issues

The following is an overview of the key issues identified Refer to the attached CSAH 34 SEE Scan Technical Memorandum for more information.

  • Expansion of the roadway outside of the current right-of-way could require archaeological surveys be completed to determine if eligible National Register sites are present.
  • Agency coordination will be needed to ensure avoidance of impacts to Blanding’s turtle habitat and impacts to Regionally Significant Ecological Areas.
  • Methods to minimize deer-vehicle collisions will need to be evaluated.
  • Wetland delineation will be needed at the time of roadway design, in order to minimize and/or mitigate potential wetland impacts.
  • Stormwater treatment and floodplain impacts will need to be analyzed in order to determine appropriate mitigation
