Juvenile Center Rights
Resident Rights are located in student handbooks and in visiting and living areas.
- Reasonable observance of cultural, ethnic, and religious practice.
- Reasonable degree of privacy.
- Participate in developing your treatment and case plan.
- Positive and proactive adult guidance, support, and supervision.
- Free from any abuse, neglect, inhumane treatment, and sexual exploitation.
- Adequate medical care.
- Sufficient and nutritious meals, clothing, and housing.
- Live in clean and safe surroundings.
- Receive a public education.
- Reasonable communication and visitation as defined by the case plan.
- Daily bathing/showering with products to maintain acceptable personal hygiene.
- Access to protection and advocacy services.
- Retain and use a reasonable amount of personal property.
- Courteous and respectful treatment.
- Freedom from bias and harassment regarding race, gender, age, disability, spirituality, and sexual orientation.
- Be informed of and use the grievance procedure.
- Free from restraint except for protection from danger to self or others.
- Informed of the Zero Tolerance Policy for Sexual Abuse, Sexual Assault, Harassment and Retaliation if you report any incidents.
- Free medical and sexual advocacy services if you were sexually abused, sexually assaulted, sexually harassed, or retaliated in a confinement center.
